Alcohol and cannabis in fatal crash driver’s blood


A man who killed a relative when the car he was driving was smashed into a Christchurch overpass was twice the alcohol limit and had cannabis in his blood. Tahi Marae Te Hautanawhea, 38, pleaded guilty to a charge of causing death by driving with excess blood-alcohol, and three charges of causing injury. Awhina Aphen​ Bush-Te Hau, 31, was killed in the June 2018 crash on Tunnel Rd , between Ferry Rd and Port Hills Rd. Two other passengers were injured.
