A judge has labelled two young defendants ‘idiots’ after they were caught supplying cannabis.
Branden Rhodes and a 17-year-old youth were arrested by police after officers could smell cannabis coming from Rhodes’ home on Major Street in Accrington.
They recovered bags of cannabis, drugs paraphernalia including digital scales, a green tub with snap seal bags, cash and mobile phones with drug-related messages, a court heard.
Rhodes, 23, of Major Street, and the youth both pleaded guilty at Burnley Crown Court to possessing cannabis with intent to supply and being concerned in the supply of cannabis.
Prosecutor Emma Kehoe said a community beat officer was in the area of Major Street on August 26 last year when he detected a ‘strong smell of cannabis’.
When he knocked on Rhodes’ front door the defendant answered and there were a ‘number of other youths in the premises’.
