The Kanchikacherla police on Monday seized 220 kg of ganja (Cannabis), allegedly being smuggled from Andhra Pradesh to Maharashtra.
During vehicle check, the police intercepted a car and seized the contraband at Keesara toll gate. They arrested two suspected smugglers, said Nandigama Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) A. Subash Chandra Bose.
The accused, Siripuram Venkatesh and Ramavath Vijay of Telangana, reportedly loaded the vehicle at Narsipatnam in Visakhapatnam district with ganja and were destined to Nasik in Maharashtra, the DSP said.
Police are trying to identify the kingpin of the racket. Police registered a case and the vehicle, along with the seized contraband, would be produced in the court, Mr. Bose said.
