22 tonnes: The deadly drugs stopped from reaching our shores

Twenty-two tonnes. That’s the frightening amount of drugs stopped from reaching Australian shores by a joint taskforce, made up of Australian Federal Police and Chinese authorities, in just over three years. Among the deadly drugs found by the AFP and the Chinese officials was almost eight tonnes of meth, 1.6 tonnes of ecstasy, 1.5 tonnes of cocaine and more than 10 kilograms of heroin. Vast amounts of ketamine, ephedrine and the chemical GBL have also been stopped from getting to Australia.
