Hemp is back, and Washington lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are pushing to make it easier for farmers to plant the long-outlawed cousin of marijuana in time to reap this fall. “I am absolutely confident we’re going to have a system this year,” said Bonny Jo Peterson, a prospective hemp farmer based in Tacoma who is heading up lobbying efforts in Olympia as founder of the Industrial Hemp Association of Washington.
