In push for marijuana legalization, 2020 Democrats side with industry

Presidential hopeful Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) has introduced a bill removing marijuana from the federal Controlled Substances Act , a proposal that has been endorsed by fellow Democratic candidates Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.), Kamala D. Harris (Calif.), Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Elizabeth Warren (Mass.). In a Democratic primary in which most candidates are trying to prove their left-wing credentials, it may be ironic that such a corporate-friendly form of legalization has caught on.
