Cannabis campaign mum fears ‘miracle’ treatment has come too late to cure East Kilbride boy’s stroke-like seizures

Cole Thomson has finally begun medical cannabis treatment.

But with his paralysing seizures now worse than ever, his family fear his ‘miracle’ cure has come too late.

The six-year-old Newlandsmuir boy was chosen as one of only 10 children in Scotland to receive the cannabidiol (CBD) Epidiolex, which has helped improve the lives of child epileptics around the world.

But after an anxious and exhausting five-week wait, Cole’s distraught mum Lisa Quarrell fears the multiple stroke-like seizures he endures each night have caused “permanent and irreversible” damage to his brain.

Now she is calling for an investigation into why it took so long to gain access to the drug.
