Massive cannabis bust near Banff shows black market still thriving: RCMP

CANMORE — Mounties stumbled across an unexpected, but significant cannabis seizure in January after stopping a speeding pickup truck on the Trans-Canada Highway near Banff. A subsequent search of the vehicle found 147 kg of cannabis along with two kg of a cannabis resin called shatter, a kilogram of THC edibles, 4.5 kg of psilocybin mushrooms, and $11,000 in Canadian currency. “Traffic stops on Alberta highways can, and do, lead to significant seizures,” RCMP Supt. Gary Graham said.
